Return Insights
OVERVIEW
Return Insights helps you catch problem products before they cost you. It automatically flags products with an abnormally high return rate by product, ranks them by dollar impact, and shows the return reasons driving the issue — so you always know which of your top returned products need attention first and can catch product return trends early. Return Insights is currently available to a limited group of merchants in Early Access; this article covers what it does and how to use it.

What it is
Return Insights is a Loop admin feature that automatically identifies which of your products are returning at an unusually high rate compared to the rest of your catalog. Instead of digging through raw return data to spot product return trends yourself, Return Insights surfaces the products that matter most — ranked by how much they're costing you — along with why shoppers are returning them.
Why it matters
Catch problems early. Return Insights looks at a rolling 45-day window, so you find out about a returning product within its first 45 days on the market — not a full season later.
Prioritize by impact, not just volume. Flagged products are ranked by dollar impact (return rate × units sold × value), so you know which ones are actually worth fixing first.
Skip the guesswork. Return reasons are shown alongside each flagged product, so you don't have to dig through separate reports to understand what's driving the return.
Use Cases
You just launched a new style and want to know quickly if it's returning at a higher-than-normal rate — before a full season of sales is affected.
You have too many products to manually monitor return rates on all of them, and want Loop to tell you which ones need a second look.
You want to prioritize which underperforming products to fix first, based on actual dollar impact rather than a gut sense of "this one feels high."
How it works
Return Insights continuously reviews your return activity over a rolling 45-day window and compares each product's return rate to your catalog's overall baseline. Products whose return rate is a statistical outlier are flagged automatically — you don't need to set any thresholds yourself.
For each flagged product, you'll see:
The estimated dollar impact of its returns
The return reasons shoppers selected

Note: Return Insights currently flags at the product level, not the variant level. If you need to see which specific size or color is driving an outlier, you can use Loop's GoodData return-reason dashboard as a stop-gap today — a dedicated variant-level heatmap for this is planned ahead of General Availability.
Setup
Important: Return Insights is currently in Early Access and is enabled by Loop for a limited group of merchants — there's no self-serve toggle yet. If you're interested in early access, contact your Merchant Success Manager.
Once enabled for your account, there's no additional configuration needed — Return Insights will automatically backfill and display your full 45-day return history right away.
Navigate to Analytics > Return Insights.
Review your flagged products, sorted by dollar impact.
Click thumbs up or thumbs down on any insight to tell Loop whether it was helpful — this feedback helps us improve future insights.
Admin experience
Return Insights lives entirely in the Loop admin — there's no shopper-facing or returns-portal component. Once enabled, you'll see it as a dedicated view listing your currently flagged products, updated on a rolling basis as return activity changes.
FAQ
How often does Return Insights update? Return Insights reviews a rolling 45-day window of return activity, so flagged products and their dollar impact will shift as new returns come in.
Can I tell Loop which products to watch, instead of only seeing what it flags automatically? Not yet — today, Return Insights only surfaces products it identifies as outliers. A merchant-directed watchlist is planned for a future release.
Why don't I see Return Insights in my account? Return Insights is currently in Early Access and only available to a limited group of merchants. Contact your Merchant Success Manager if you're interested.
Does Return Insights show which size or color is driving a product's return rate? Not natively yet. You can use Loop's GoodData return-reason dashboard to look at variant-level detail as a workaround today; a dedicated heatmap for this is planned ahead of General Availability.
