Checkout+: Optional Setup
OVERVIEW
This article covers optional setup steps for Checkout+ including hiding the product from Shopify storefront collections, preventing discounts from applying to Checkout+, implementing Checkout+ in Rebuy Cart, and configuring which markets can access Checkout+.
Use the menu on the left to quickly navigate this article.
Hide Checkout+ in the Shopify store
Shopify's 'closed-cart' system forces Checkout+ to be added as an actual product in the merchant's store. However, merchants may not want Checkout+ to show up under "All Products" on their storefront. This section reviews how to hide the Checkout+ product from the storefront.
Note: Stores only need to hide the Checkout+ product if they have a product collection that references all available store products. If there isn't an all-encompassing collection, and the store offers a variety of products with specific collections (for example, "Women's T-Shirts"), merchants don't need to hide the Checkout+ product.
If the merchant currently has a navigable collection on its store that references all products in the store, please complete the following steps to hide Checkout+ from the product listing:
Assign a product type to the Checkout+ product:
In Shopify, create a new collection that excludes Checkout+.
Set the collection conditions to reference All Products (excluding Checkout+), then click Save.
Change the main menu by going to content > menus
Select the Shop All navigation link.
Remove the former collection reference.
Select new collection All Products (Excluding Checkout+).
Click Apply changes.
Exclude Checkout+ product from discounts
The steps below are to ensure that the Checkout+ product isn't discounted. If the product isn't excluded from discounts, then the customer will not be charged the full fee.
Important: Due to a Shopify limitation, the only way to exclude the Checkout+ product is through a "Amount Off Product" discount. There is no way to prevent "Amount Off Order" discount types from applying to the Checkout+ product.
Therefore, if you are an Checkout+ Free merchant, we highly recommend only using "Amount Off Product" discounts going forward and disabling active discounts that use the "Amount Off Order" and replacing them with discounts that use the "Amount Off Product" type.
Create a new collection to include all products and exclude the Checkout+ product
In the Shopify admin, navigate to Products > Collections, then click Create collection.
Create the collection to contain all products EXCEPT the Checkout+ Product
Create a discount using the new collection
Navigate to Discounts, then click Create discount.
Select the Amount off products discount type.
Set Applies to to Specific collections, then add the All products collection created in step one.
This ensures that the discount will not apply to all items in the customer's cart, and the return coverage item will not receive the discount.
Note: If you use a third-party to generate discounts, such as Klaviyo, then you will need to change the discount type directly in the third-party.
Rebuy Cart Implementation
When working with Rebuy, there is an option to add custom html to the Rebuy Cart Drawer. Rebuy will then display the Checkout+ <div> on the merchants storefront, similar to how a Shopify theme displays the <div>. Then Loop’s Checkout+ react app will mount the Checkout+ toggle and control the Checkout+ product in the cart.
This can be found in the Rebuy admin:
For testing and preview, an approach could be something like:
Make sure the "Checkout+ for Cart" app embed is disabled in their live/published theme
Add the cart drawer div to Rebuy's admin in the 'add custom code' section
Create a duplicated draft theme.
Enable the “Checkout+ for Cart” app embed in the draft
Test in preview mode, then Publish when ready.

Configure markets
Free: Checkout+ has to be on your US policy. It's optional to have Checkout+ on any other markets you support.
Flex: Checkout+ can be added to any market you support.
If you only want to offer Checkout+ in certain markets, you'll need to exclude the Checkout+ product from the markets where you don't want it offered.
Note: Shopify has updated how product-to-market access is managed, so depending on your store you'll see one of two interfaces:
Catalog-based Markets (newer, most merchants going forward) — products are tied to markets through catalogs. Use Option A.
Per-product Markets (older Shopify accounts) — markets are toggled directly on each product. Use Option B.
If you're not sure which you have, start with Option A. If your Shopify admin doesn't show a Catalogs setting under Markets, use Option B.
Option A: Exclude Checkout+ using a catalog (recommended)
In the updated Markets experience, you control which products a market can access through a catalog. You'll create (or edit) a catalog that excludes the Checkout+ product, then assign it to the market(s) where you don't want Checkout+ offered. A catalog includes all products by default, so you only exclude the one(s) you don't want, and the same catalog can be reused across multiple markets.
In the catalog's product list, exclude the Checkout+ product named "Pay now to unlock free returns" (plus any other products you don't want offered in those markets).
Assign the catalog to the market(s) where Checkout+ should not appear. You can apply one catalog to multiple markets.
Click Save.
Tip: A market keeps offering Checkout+ as long as it stays on a catalog that still includes the Checkout+ product. Only markets assigned to the excluding catalog will hide it.
Option B: Edit markets on the product (older Shopify Markets UI)
If your Shopify admin still shows market settings directly on individual products, you can set availability there:
In Products in Shopify, identify the Checkout+ product named "Pay now to unlock free returns."
In the product, go to the Publishing section on the right and click the three dots.
Select the markets where you want Checkout+ offered, then click Done.
Important: If this UI isn't available in your Shopify admin, your store is on the catalog-based Markets system — use Option A instead.
