Use the menu on the left to quickly navigate this article.

Setup

Before following the steps below, the merchant should confirm with their Merchant Success Manager that they're a Checkout+ customer.

To set up Checkout+ in the Cart:

  1. In the Shopify admin, navigate to Sales channels → Online Store Themes.

  2. Find the theme to use for the want to edit, and then click Customize.

  3. On the sidebar, click the App embeds icon.

  4. Click the toggle button next to Loop Storefront.

  5. Turn on the Checkout+ Integration toggle to active Checkout+

  6. Click Save.

When going through the checkout process, Shopify will now replace the default checkout buttons with the Checkout+ button in both the cart and cart page.

How to set up Checkout+ in Checkout:

Important: This step is strongly recommended for merchants using Checkout+ and package protection to ensure the correct price is used in the case of a shopper using a discount code during checkout.

  1. In Shopify Admin, Navigate to Settings → Checkout

  2. Then click Customize button in Configurations section.

  3. On the sidebar, click the App embeds icon.

  4. Click to add the Checkout+ app to Checkout.

  5. Use the arrows to move the app embed to the desired location. We recommend placing it in the Shipping method section or below the Total.

  6. Choose options for the app display and Save the customization

    • Include app block in Shop Pay - This allows the app block to be visible when using Shop Pay. Tip: Loop recommends turning this on!

  7. Optionally, click the Preview Shop Pay link to see a preview of how the Checkout App Block will appear in Shop Pay.

Preventing Multiple Checkout+ Products on a Single Order

To ensure the Checkout+ product can only be purchased one time per order, please setup the following in your Shopify settings:

  1. Settings > Checkout > Scroll to 'Checkout rules'

  1. Add Rule > Checkout Plus Cart Quantity Validator

  1. Save > Turn On

  1. Ensure your Checkout+ product has the following Product Tag in Shopify: checkout-plus-limit-quantity

  1. Test to validate this is working properly by attempting to add multiple Checkout+ products to your cart

FAQ

How do I know if I'm eligible to set up Checkout+? Before attempting to set up Checkout+, please confirm with your Merchant Success Manager that you're a Checkout+ customer. They will be able to verify your eligibility and provide any necessary guidance.

Does this setup work with third party carts such as Upcart and Aftersell? Yes, most of the time it will. However, if it doesn't, contact Loop supportwe can manually add the Checkout+ buttons to your cart in order to complete setup.

If a customer has an order that doesn't need package protection (eg: a pick up order), can they still purchase returns coverage? Yes! Returns coverage and package protection will display dynamically based on what the cart is eligible for.

Should I keep my existing quick pay buttons (Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, etc.) on my cart alongside the CO+ buttons? We recommend removing them. Stacking 5–6 checkout buttons on the cart creates a confusing customer experience and lowers your CO+ attach rate, which directly impacts your revenue share. Don't worry — these payment methods are still fully available to shoppers on the checkout screen, so removing them from the cart doesn't disable any payment option. You can find instructions on how to do this in your Shopify theme editor here.

How do Checkout+ (CO+) and Order Editing (OE) work together? Order Editing and Checkout+ work well together. A few things to note:

  1. If a shopper has paid for CO+, they can't remove it during the editing experience. This protects data and billing accuracy.

  2. If a merchant uses Shopify Flows to auto-fulfill the CO+ product, editing is still supported:

    • If CO+ is configured to fulfill after the order is placed, fulfillment is delayed until the Order Edit hold is released.

    • If CO+ is configured to fulfill after the other items in the order, there's no impact — editing works as expected.

    • If the merchant doesn't use Shopify Flows for CO+ or OE fulfillment, there's no impact — editing works as expected.
