Bonus Credit
Loop offers bonus credit for exchange and store credit to improve revenue retention. In giving customers an incentive to choose another item, it helps decrease refund rate. Bonus credit can be configured via return policy or Workflows.
Customer experience
Shop Now
When a bonus is configured for Shop Now, it will appear on the credit page in the portal.
The bonus will also be expressed on the return summary financial breakdown. The bonus will be deducted from the purchase subtotal, so it functions like a discount.
Store credit
When a bonus credit is configured, it will appear on the credit page in a green banner.
It will also appear on the review page. If the customer had originally selected refund, they will see the store credit bonus offer again in an attempt to convert the customer to store credit.
Pre-discount credit
When pre-discount credit is enabled, it is expressed in a similar way to the Shop Now bonus on the credit page. Customers will see the pre-discount credit amount and then the total credit.
The pre-discount is displayed again on the return summary financial breakdown, where it is expressed as a Shop Now bonus.
Return policy
Exchanges
Bonus credit can be configured for Shop Now exchanges in two ways:
Flat rate: enter a flat dollar amount to give customers a set amount of credit (i.e. $10.00).
Percentage of total return value: this figure is based on the total value of the items being returned.
Store Credit
Bonus credit can be configured for store credit in two ways:
Flat rate: enter a flat dollar amount to give customers a set amount of credit (for example, $10.00).
Percentage of total return value: this figure is based on the total value of the items being returned.
Note: if you provide a bonus credit for store credit via return policy, then a handling fee cannot be assessed.
Workflows
Bonus credits can be configured through workflow actions. Any condition in Workflows can be paired with a credit action.

Tip: if you're not sure how much bonus credit to offer, we recommend doing some testing. Pick a value for a set period of time, then increase or decrease the value and observe for an additional period. After testing for a few months, you can compare return outcome performance across time periods in the Value Impact analytics dashboard.
Pre-discount credit
When a customer originally shopped with a discount and then chooses to request a return for that item, this feature allows them to keep the same purchasing power on their upsell exchange. Loop does not support Shopify discount codes, but this feature gives the customer the same discount value that was applied on the original order.
This setting can be configured under the Shop Now (Returns management > Policy settings > Shop Now) tab in the admin.
