Onboarding Guide – Checkout+ Expansion
Overview
Upgrading to Checkout+ consists of additional features added to your Loop admin, and Checkout+ being added to your Shopify theme.
You are guided through the process via prepared materials, with email support. The entire process can be accomplished quickly.
Getting started
Grant Loop Access to Shopify (required)
Expect to see the request come through within 24 hours of your Onboarding Specialist reaching out.
This request will be sent to the Store Owner via email or can be found directly in Shopify by navigating to Settings > Users & Permissions. The request will come from payables@loopreturns.com.
This is required for Loop to complete the Checkout+ implementation in your cart.
Flag any 3PL or ERP integrations with your onboarding specialist
Stripe powers Shop Now, Instant Exchange, and is required if you charge handling/shipping fees on exchange orders. Customers who do not opt into the Checkout+ offering and select an exchange will incur an exchange handling fee, which is processed through Stripe.
Advanced features
Shop Now helps retain revenue (and potentially captures upsell) by allowing shoppers to exchange an item they bought for other products in the store catalog. Select one version of Shop now to setup:
Shop Now In-App - complete the setup in minutes on the Shop Now page in Loop.
Shop Now On-Store - complete the setup in your Shopify theme. This version may require support from a developer.
Allows customers to receive their exchange items immediately upon initiating a return.
Accommodate scenarios falling outside of a typical return policy.
Give customers the ability to change their mind on a return after they have initially requested a refund.
Allows merchants to send tracking details and return status updates to customers.
Offer new product exchange options based on collections or tags set up in Shopify. This feature is typically used when colors/sizes are set as separate products rather than variants in Shopify.
Order Editing allows shoppers to modify orders after checkout to reduce support burden and drive incremental revenue.
Loop Intelligence
Loop Intelligence is how Loop helps you make more consistent, confident post-purchase decisions over time. Instead of only showing you what happened in the past, Intelligence uses real signals from your returns and exchanges activity to help determine what should happen next. This allows you to reduce risk, protect revenue, and spend less time on manual review.
Fraud Tools
Loop Fraud Tools combine the intelligence of Loop’s in-house foundation model with real-time post-purchase data to stop fraudulent behavior before it hurts your brand.
Return Policy Insights
Whenever relevant insights are available for specific sections of a return policy, they will automatically appear to guide merchants. The goal is to provide helpful context—boosting confidence in decisions around key elements like setting fees or defining return windows.
Product Recommendations
Product Recommendations adds an additional exchange option to your return portal, powered by Loop's product recommendations engine. When enabled, shoppers will see personalized product suggestions alongside variant and Advanced Exchange options during their return.
Checkout+
All merchants will have Checkout+ implemented in their cart. Loop will complete the cart implementation in a duplicate of your live theme. Your Onboarding Specialist will send additional information when the theme is ready for review.
Note: Shopify Plus merchants should follow the Checkout Setup directions to add Checkout+ the checkout configuration.

Edit returns coverage text to match your brand’s unique voice
Match the appearance of Checkout+ to the look and feel of your brand.
Test
Testing is a required and important step before going live with Checkout+. Test the Checkout+ implementation in the duplicate Shopify theme.
Launch
Update your return policy with Checkout+ language and then publish the Checkout+ theme.
Notify your Onboarding Specialist when you publish your Checkout+ theme.
