Onboarding for Loop - Checkout+ with Merchant-Paid Labels

Overview

Onboarding to Checkout+ with Merchant-Paid Labels consists of setting up your Loop admin and Checkout+ being added to your Shopify theme.

You are guided through the process via prepared materials and email support from an Onboarding Specialist. The entire process can be accomplished quickly, with your Onboarding Specialist matching your speed.  


Getting started

Add additional user accounts (optional)

Grant Loop access to Shopify (required)

Expect to see the request come through within 24 hours of your Onboarding Specialist reaching out. 

This request will be sent to the Store Owner via email or can be found directly in Shopify by navigating to Settings > Users & Permissions. The request will come from payables@loopreturns.com.

This is required for Loop to complete the Checkout+ implementation in your cart.

Flag any necessary integrations with your Onboarding Specialist

Complete pre-onboarding survey and notify your Onboarding Specialist when complete


Basic setup

Review General Settings 

Go to the general settings page in your Loop admin and adjust settings as necessary. General settings are applied to all returns.

Review and set up Return Policies

Your Onboarding Specialist will use your pre-onboarding survey responses to setup your domestic return policy. Additional international return policies can be setup using these directions.

Configure your Shipping Settings 

  • US/Canada/UK/EU Shipping - connect via Ship By Loop 

  • International Shipping - consult your onboarding specialist for best practice

If you are using labels for cross-border returns, please ensure your products are customs ready.

Integrate Stripe

Stripe powers Shop Now, Instant Exchange, and is required if you charge handling/shipping fees on exchange orders. Customers who do not opt into the Checkout+ offering and select an exchange will incur an exchange handling fee, which is processed through Stripe.

Customize the Return Portal

Review the customizations completed by your Onboarding Specialist and adjust as needed.


Advanced setup

Shop Now

Shop Now helps retain revenue (and potentially captures upsell) by allowing shoppers to exchange an item they bought for other products in the store catalog. Select one version of Shop now to setup:

Instant Exchange

Allows customers to receive their exchange items immediately upon initiating a return. 

Workflows

Review the best practice workflows added to your Loop instance, and make adjustments as needed. Build additional workflows to accommodate scenarios falling outside of a typical return policy.

Shop Later

Give customers the ability to change their mind on a return after they have initially requested a refund.

Returns Tracking

Allows merchants to send tracking details and return status updates to customers.

Advanced Exchanges

Offer new product exchange options based on collections or tags set up in Shopify. This feature is typically used when colors/sizes are set as separate products rather than variants in Shopify.

Order Editing

Order Editing allows shoppers to modify orders after checkout to reduce support burden and drive incremental revenue. 


Loop Intelligence 

Loop Intelligence is how Loop helps you make more consistent, confident post-purchase decisions over time. Instead of only showing you what happened in the past, Intelligence uses real signals from your returns and exchanges activity to help determine what should happen next. This allows you to reduce risk, protect revenue, and spend less time on manual review.

  • Return Policy Insights

    • Whenever relevant insights are available for specific sections of a return policy, they will automatically appear to guide merchants. The goal is to provide helpful context—boosting confidence in decisions around key elements like setting fees or defining return windows.

  • Product Recommendations

    • Product Recommendations adds an additional exchange option to your return portal, powered by Loop's product recommendations engine. When enabled, shoppers will see personalized product suggestions alongside variant and Advanced Exchange options during their return.


Checkout+ 

All merchants will have Checkout+ implemented in their cart. Loop will complete the cart implementation in a duplicate of your live theme. Your Onboarding Specialist will send additional information when the theme is ready for review. 

Note: Shopify Plus merchants should follow the Checkout Setup directions to add Checkout+ the checkout configuration.

Test

Note: Testing is a required and important step before going live with Loop.

Shopper Return Portal

Test different return scenarios, and make sure that all features are working as intended.

Checkout+ 

Test the Checkout+ implementation in the duplicated Shopify theme. 


Launch

Note: It is required to launch your shopper return portal and your Checkout+ theme at the same time.

  • Add the shopper return portal to your return policy page. 

  • Update your return policy with Checkout+ language and then publish the Checkout+ theme.

  • Notify your Onboarding Specialist when you publish your Checkout+ theme.
